Condominium law: questions for an insurance review

Organize your association’s documents and questions before evaluating its master policy.

Start with the documents

Have the master deed, bylaws and current policy with endorsements available. Association and unit-owner responsibilities need to be considered alongside the documents and applicable law.

Identify specific questions

Ask which building components are insured, what limits and deductibles apply and what information the insurer needs. Do not rely only on a marketing summary of coverage.

Use the appropriate sources

Law 129-2020 and its amendments may be relevant to your association. Consult the current text and legal advice for interpretation of obligations; this guide does not establish that a policy meets every requirement.
